gringolander says: Jugal bandhi is a "style" of music, where two musicians' performances are entwined. Neither one is the leader or the follower, as both are equal. In Hidustani jugalbandhi means entwined twins. There is playful competition. In western music, a similar style would be a mandolin and a guitar playing the same tune, but overlapping each other or a drummer doing a 'solo' with another conga player, trying to do the same percussion with different instruments.
